It’s that time of year again… back to school! Kids love a snack after school, and a lot of times they reach for stuff that isn’t so healthy. The trick is to keep only healthy stuff in the house, but make it fun. Here are some good healthy kid snacks ideas.
• Healthy Kid Snacks •
Berries with Chocolate Chips (simply poke a chip into the berry and there you have a cool treat!)
Smoothies! (Take 2 cups fruit of your choice, frozen or fresh; 1 cup greens; 1 cup almond milk and blend! This will serve at least one kiddo, maybe 2. There might even be enough for you, too.) Or check out our “How to make a green smoothie” post.
Veggie Chips! (Check out this post: Veggie Chips Galore) Adults love these healthy kid snacks, too!
Ants on a Log: Spread nut butter onto celery and sprinkle raisins for one of those easy, fun & healthy after school snacks.
Banana Tortilla Snack (AKA banana sushi): Take a tortilla, spread some peanut butter on it. Layer on some sliced banana, sprinkle with sesame seeds or sunflower seeds (Or seeds of your choice).
Yogurt Fruit Bowl: Simply slice up some fruit, and scoop some yogurt on top.
Whole grain toast, nut butter, banana slices, raisins and walnuts. YUM! This is actually one of my favorite healthy kid snacks – even as an adult!
Fresh Fruity Skewers: Doesn’t have to be color coordinated like a flag or anything, but that does make it extra cool to kids! Try a new design each time you make these, if you have the time.
Hope these healthy kid snacks are helpful and your kiddos love them. They’re also great for adults too! 😉
