No matter what your status is: you’ve been a vegetarian for 10+ years, you’re an on and off vegetarian, you aren’t vegetarian, or you’re just curious – these books are for you! Great pictures and healthy ingredients are a must. I’ve been a veg-head for about 15 years now and I am still surprised at the variety of foods I can eat. Enjoy my top 6 vegetarian cookbooks selection! NOTE: Some of these cookbooks might be vegan, but you won’t even notice the dairy missing from the recipes, I promise!
1. Madhur Jaffrey’s World Vegetarian:
Nothing better than a book filled with 650+ recipes from around the world. I love trying new things, don’t you? And learning more about them makes it even that much more fun: “Madhur includes personal anecdotes and historical contexts that bring her recipes to life, whether she’s remembering field of leeks she saw in the mountains of northern Greece or describing how corn-based dishes arrived in Indonesia through colonial trade.”
2. Happy Herbivore Light & Lean
Lindsay S. Nixon has written other veg cookbooks, too, but this helps you lose weight in the process. Includes 150+ low calorie recipes and workout plans, too. A good choice for anyone trying to lose weight the healthy way. This book: “provides recipes that put a special emphasis on weight-loss and a set of exercises that, like her recipes, are quick, easy, and produce great results.”
3. The Oh She Glows Cookbook
I’ve been a big fan of the Oh She Glows blog for a while now. Been so curious about this book, have yet to buy it, but it’s still on my top list! The recipes are always so easy to make and taste wonderful. Good variety and healthy, too! “Whether you are a vegan or you simply want to incorporate a few vegan meals into your week, Angela’s recipes are a must-have for anyone who longs to eat well, feel great, and simply glow!”
4. Forks Over Knives-The Cookbook
Forks Over Knives is a SUPER AWESOME film! This cookbook is complementary to the film as it’s recipes will help you achieve good health, weight loss and reverse certain illnesses all from changing your eating habits. “The secret is out: If you want to lose weight, lower your cholesterol, and prevent (or even reverse!) chronic conditions such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes, the right food is your best medicine.”
As stated on the book cover – its the Ultimate Vegan Cookbook. The authors Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero created this beauty of a book. “You’ll find more than 250 recipes–plus menus and stunning color photos–for dishes that will please every palate.”
6. Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker
I’ve been using this book for a couple years now. Cooking with a slow cooker saves so much time in my life. Just chop up what the recipe calls for, add it to the slow cooker, turn on the slow cooker and let it sit all day cooking. “By now the remarkable convenience of the slow cooker is no secret: it’s practically a miracle to come home after a long day out and have dinner ready and waiting.”
Here is a ton More Vegetarian Cookbooks to browse through, I only listed a handful.
