Protein Powder

Any protein powder without added sugar is best. I am a big fan of Kos Plant Based protein powders, but use what you want. Any kind is fine too – plant based, hemp, soy, whey, etc.

Matcha Green Tea Powder

Matcha comes from ground tea leaves. It’s full of antioxidants including some that help burn fat. You can read more about the health benefits of Matcha in the book, which include help with diabetes, blood pressure and even bad breath!

Probiotics

Probiotics have live cultures in them, which are helpful to digestion and can help burn fat. They have been talked about and included in the 17 Day Diet already, but Dr. Mike really promotes them in the newest book as beneficial. You can get probiotics from yogurt, kefir, miso, kombucha, or even just a probiotic pill. There are so many forms out there these days, there is no excuse to not get some probiotics in your diet. Fiber

Fiber can help greatly when trying to lose weight. It helps you feel full, helps regulate blood sugar, help stop bad food cravings, helps you burn more calories with digestions since it takes more work to digest fiber and it reduces the incidence of certain cancers. Read more about fiber in the book. Psyllium Husk is a good, natural and healthy fiber choice.

Low Sugar Ingredients

Fruit and unsweetened almond milk or unsweetened soy milk are essentially the recommended low-sugar ingredients. Berries are the most recommended fruit.

THE TRANSITIONAL DAY FAST DIRECTIONS:

If you’re following the 17 day diet, it’s called “transitional day fast”. This fast is 1 day, and includes all 3 recipes below to eat, one for breakfast, one for lunch and one for dinner. You could also just have these weight loss smoothies recipes on any healthy clean eating diet if you wanted. They’re great for helping with weight loss.

You do not have to be following 17 day diet to do this smoothie fast or eat these weight loss smoothies.

Weight Loss Smoothies Recipes:

SMOOTHIE RECIPE #1 – Breakfast

Weight Loss smoothies recipes - for losing weight with 17 day diet or other healthy clean eating diet. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup plain low fat yogurt

1 scoop protein powder, vanilla

1 serving powdered fiber (Psyllium Husk is great!)

1/2 cup crushed pineapple, canned in its own juice, but drained

1/2 frozen banana

Blend until smooth. Add ice if you’d like to make it a more filling meal. According to the book, it says to blend for a couple minutes to “add air” which will also make you feel more full. Makes 1 serving.

SMOOTHIE RECIPE #2 – Lunch

Weight Loss smoothies recipes - for losing weight with 17 day diet or other healthy clean eating diet. 1 cup plain low-fat yogurt

1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 scoop protein powder, vanilla

1 serving powdered fiber (Psyllium Husk is great!)

Truvia, to taste

Blend until smooth. You can make this ahead of time, if you have to go to work or school. And store in some kind of travel mug. The book recommends freezing it and placing it in the fridge at work, so when lunch time rolls around, it should be thawed and ready to drink. Makes 1 serving.

SMOOTHIE RECIPE #3 – Dinner

weight loss smoothies!1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

Large handful fresh spinach leaves

1 scoop protein powder, vanilla

1 tsp matcha powder

1/2 cup crushed ice

Truvia, to taste

Blend until smooth. Makes 1 serving.

Along with drinking these smoothies in one day, you should also drink 8 glasses of water and drink 3-4 glasses of green tea, as desired. This fast is recommended for anyone who is following the 17 day diet and needs a fat burning boost!
